Tamil Nadu politicians are at again. Spreading fears about Covid vaccination following death of veteranKollywood  actor and comedian Vivekh alias Vivekanandan.

Vivek , who is known for thought provoking punch comedy dialogues of his own, stole the hearts of millions of fans. He was actively involved in tree planting and social awareness moves. On Thursday, he had first dose of Covaxin and addressed a press conference appealing to people to get vaccinated as it was safe. He also praised doctors and others for their dedicated service. On Friday (17th April) he was brought to hospital in an unconscious state and was resuscitated. Vivek’s condition was critical and was on Cardiac and respiratory support at ICU ward. He also underwent an emergency coronary angiogram and angioplasty after he was diagnosed to have 100 per cent blockage in his left coronary artery.  In a press release the hospital said “this is an acute coronary syndrome with cardiogenic shock. This is a separate cardiac event and may not be due to Covid vaccination”.  Villain actor Mansoor Ali Khan held protests in front of the hospital blaming vaccination was the cause for his health issues. He spoke in a discouraging tone about the Covid vaccine.

Vivek (59) passed away on 17th April  early morning , a day after he was admitted to a hospital.  He is survived by his wife Arulselvi  and daughters Tejaswini, Amirtha Nandini . His Prasanna Kumar died due to dengue fever few years back. Vivek had acted more than 200 films.

He wasintroduced by K Balachandar in the late 1980s. He went on to become one of the most sought after comedian of Tamil filmdom in the 1990s. He retained a stronghold in the industry with his punch dialogues on various social related issues affecting the common man and social evils. He was actively involved in tree planting, river linking projects.  Under the Green Kalam initiative which he undertook as per the wishes of his friend and role model, former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Vivek planted over 33 lakh saplings across the state. He also worked with Isha Foundation in this regard. On hearing his demise, sorrowful condolences poured from all quarters including film world, politicians and industry.  He was called Chinna Kalaivaanar and was standup comedian and good at performing mimicry.   In a recent school function he had asked the students to plant 5,000 saplings. He left his government job to pursue a career in Cinema where he had a successful career.

Vivek’s fans has vowed to continue social cause. The baton has now been transferred to diehard fans who should fulfil his dream of planting a billion saplings across Tamil nadu. It is the only way for his fans to pay  homage  to him.

Tamil Nadu politicians like DMK chief M K Stalin, VCK leader Thol Thirumavelvan , left leaders opposed the vaccination drive  claiming it was not safe when the nationwide vaccination drive was launched on January 16th. But after the second wave of pandemic, Stalin, Vaiko, Thirumavalavan and others got their first jab at private clinics before kick starting their poll campaign.  Three days ago, Stalin demanded for a universal Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country and blamed the lackadaisical attitude of the administration of both state and Central governments for the spread of Covid 19 in the country.  In the case of Vivek, commentator, Dr  Sumanth C Raman, a critic of BJP ( whose wife  Anitha Sumanth is a HC judge) set the ball rolling first by tweeting “ If I remember correctly @ActorVivek had his #Covid vaccine yesterday. Too early to say if there was any link with his illness today. Wishing him a speedy recovery. #vivek”.

Villain actor Mansoor Ali Khan protested in front of the hospital where Vivek was admitted saying why government was forcing people to take vaccination? And questioned the powers of the government and efficacy of the vaccine.  Close on the death of Vivek many more fear mongering voices started pouring from half-baked politicians with political intentions have been creating fear psychosis about the vaccine in the minds of people.  VCK leader Thirumavalalvan and Chidambaram Lok Sabha member,  in a social media post said “ the demise of the actor has raised many questions. He said that there was a fear among people as it was after taking the vaccine that the actor fell unconscious. “ The government should clarify this. My condolences to the actor” he said.  It is a pity that Sumanth, who is a doctor by profession, was making such comments over the efficacy of the vaccination. “ He is a quiz master and best sports  commentator but has a corrupted mind” pointed  out journalist Sridhar.  TN government is considering registering case against Mansoor Ali Khan.

People lashed Sumanth, Thirumavalavan and others for their insensitive and unwarranted tweet at a time when both the state and Central governments were trying to contain the spread of second wave of Corona virus pandemic. Such mis -information will caused the government’s massive efforts to vaccinate all people vulnerable to the virus free of cost. People slammed Thirumavalalvan and others for playing politics in the death of Vivek and Sumanth. Another said “ they are waiting for a dead body to mindlessly politocise it. They appealed to them to refrain from fear mongering”. BJP leader Gayathri Raghuram in her handle, tweeted “Shame on him to mislead people. Even after doctors and hospital clarified. Court must punish him. Suspend such people from @verified @tweeterindia @tweetersupport
