Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the fifth governing council meeting of Niti Aayog today to deliberate upon need for structural reforms in agriculture, drought situation and relief measures, challenges in transforming aspirational districts and security related issues with focus on left wing extremism hit districts.
According Aayog statement, issues like rain-water harvesting, drought situation and relief measures, aspirational districts programme – achievements and callenges, transforming agriculture: need for structural reforms with special emphasis on the Agriculture Produce Making Committee Act and Essential Commodities Act as well as security related issues with specific focus on LWE districts are expected to discussed at the meeting.
The governing council comprises the prime minister, cheif ministers of alll states and union territories with legislatures and Lt Governors of the Union territories and other special invitees.
