India squad Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of World Cup on Wednesday with a thumb injury. Dhawan suffered hairline fracture during his match winning 117 against Australia at The Ovel on June 9.
The Indian team management has sought the BCCI approval for a replacement for Dhawan, who was expected to recover in 4 weeks but didn’t go according to plan.
Shikhar Dhawan has been diagnosed with fracture of the first metacarpal on his left hand following a ball impact injury, BCCI said statement.
The BCCI now has to write to Technical Committee of the International Cricket Council and officially request for Dhawan’s replacement.
