Col Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Wyomilka Singh from the Army and Air Force are now household names. What presence! Whoever conceptualists this team with Foreogn Secretary Vikram Misri at the helm and Commodore Raghu Nair too was spot on, like the nine strikes on the terror camps in Pakistan on 7th May,2025. It was a strategic Operation Sindhoor with young women officers at the Press Meets with a secular finesse.
Modi’s New India is distinct and different. The enemy ‘now’ knows that cross border terrorist misadventures will not be met with just strong statements of intent but firm and decisive action. After 2016-Surgical Strikes and 2019- Balakote Strike- Pahalgam did not get a similar response. Operation Sindhoor was more focused and on a wider scale to terminate 100 plus terriers literally attached as regiment of the Pakistan Army.
The two young ladies sat and stood tall as they read out vernacular and English versions of the Armed Forces actions on the ground. Just as our Operation was ‘measured and non excalatory’ the read outs were pointed and professional with not a shred of any jingoistic element. It was technical but sharp shooting as the air action was.
While Pakistani briefings were peddling lies as ‘ 5 Rafles downed’ ( proof from their Defence Minister was to refer to wild and imaginary social media posts). And destruction of Airbases in Haryana, Punjab ‘ demolished as false with contemporary photographic evidence from the two women’ made secure and joyful viewing. One felt proud to be Indian!
Operation Sindhoor is a proud moment in India’s military history. It is an ongoing exercise notwithstanding the ‘understanding’ over ‘stoppage of firing’ while the Directors General of Medical Operations engage in interaction come 12th May,2025 at 12 noon.
We have not seen the last of these two ladies yet. Pakistan can never ever be trusted to keep its word. We have lived with their everlasting perfidy for decades on end. The breaches in ‘understanding’ within hours of its going Live was typical of that nation. We were therefore ready not complacent.
There is so much to wax eloquent about our Armed Forces’ unified action. Operation Sindhoor was no one-off strike. It is unique and hugely impactful. Bharat put Pakistan in its isolated place and space. That the terrorists are part of the Pakistan army has been exposed for the world to see.And the two girls on stage every day added to the uniqueness of a resonating New India!
A poignant sight that shall remain etched in our memories for ever to come. Bravo ladies! You have given us more to cheer than just the efficacious Air Defence Systems and the accuracy of our missives.
In such an evolving scenario with uncertainty writ large with Pakistan’s untrustworthy state with a weak government and rogue army at the helm under a Mad Maulana, we in India owe it to our Armed Forces and two ladies symbolizing it, to feel safe and secure!
