9 killed in landslide in northeastern India

Nine people were killed Wednesday after being hit by landslide in India’s northeastern state of Manipur, officials said.

The landslide triggered by rains struck at Tamenglong district headquaters, about 161 km west of Imphal, the capital city of Manipur.

Following the incident locals and police rushed to the spot to carry out rescuse work and pull out the bodies.

Chief Minister of Manipur Nongthombam Biren Singh has expressed sadness over the deaths.
