The ruling DMK’sDharmapuriLokSabha MP, S Senthilkumar objected to ‘Bhoomi Puja’ for a road project by a Hindu priest has received fiats from Hindu organizations. He said that representatives of all religions including DravidarKazhagam( an atheist party) should be invited to offer prayers for any such events.
The MP was the chief guest at an event to inaugurate the de-silting and renovation work of the Alapuramlake in Dharmapuri district on Saturday. Once arrivingat the spot he saw the ongoing bhoomipooja for the event and the priest who was doing it, he was furious as if he was witnessing a heinous crime. He rushed to spot and asked an official if he was aware that a government function should not be held in such a manner involving prayers of only one particular religion. In a video shared on his social media, the DMK MP can be heard lashing out at a Public Works Department officer and asked him where the Christian priests and Muslim Imams are for the function.
The MP said “Sir, Do you have instructions or not that government functions should not be held like this. Are you aware or not?” he asked. Pointing to a saffron robes clad Hindu priest, the MP asked the official: “What is this? Where are the other religions?, Where is the Christian and Muslim? Invite the Church father, the Imam, invite those who do not profess any religion, the atheists, the DravidarKazhagam (representatives). Don’t call me to these functions any more”.
Senthil also said “The DMK government is a government based on the Dravidian model and Chief Minister Stalin will not entertain performances of rituals related to one particular religion”. it is learnt that the project was a central government funded one. He inaugurated the lake restoration work after officials cleared pooja items in the midway. He also forcefully evicted the Hindu pandit and stopped the prayers from happening.The hapless officials apologies for performing Hindu rituals alone in a government function.
He shouted these at high pitch much to embarrassment of the people, officials, the priest and all who assembled to witness the event. “Don’t test patience. You people make me to lose temper”. Even during Karunanidhi was at the helm, rituals were conducted by Hindu priests. Before every such function, it is a ritual to do bhoomipooja for the safety of all and successful completion of the project with the god’s grace. Nothing wrong in it. Hindus revere earth as god which is not being followed by Christians and Muslims that he failed to understand.
It is found that DMK MP Senthilkumar known for his controversial innuendos, is a born Hindu but married to Christian SheelaBalraj. It is alleged that he is a crypto in Hindu name and promoting Christianity. A large number of people called him over phone to condemn his behavior at the event. He neither apologized nor regretted for his action. He has no sense remorse in his tone and tenor.
Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Narayanan Thirupathy strongly condemned Senthilkumar. To a question from the MP, the official identified himself as a Public Works Department Executive Engineer and tendered an apology to the Parliamentarian. Senthilkumar shared a short video of the conversation between him and the official on Twitter. “Trying to keep my cool. At times they make me to lose my patience,” the MP tweeted.
It is pertinent to mention that sometime back, TN Education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhiin a function threatened Hindus “ if anything to happen Christians and Muslims, the entire India would rally behind them. Tirupur South MLA K Selvaraj wrote a letter to CM asking his intervention to stop the sealing of illegal mosque. He threatened the officials, who went to seal the premises as per court orders.
Another DMK former councilor from Erode has written a letter to HM of a government school asking him to permit Muslims students to do Anbil Mahesh PoyyamozhiNamaz for ten minutes at noon, as large number of Muslims are studying in the school. (In a counter move, Hindu Munnani asked permission for 15 minutes to recite HyagrivaStrotramSkandaShasti hymn and Bhagavat Gita). The DMK government had tried to stop the morning prayers in all schools earlier.
The Hindu phobic DMK government’s secularism is nothing but appeasement of minorities at the cost of Hindus. It has been said and written several times but a section of Hindu TN voters still believe DMK.
